چکیده

Restenosis is a major clinical problem following successful percutaneous translwninal coronary angioplasty. Since magnesium has vasodilator and antithrombotic effects, this study lvas designed to evaluate its potential to decrease the rate of restenosis. In an open-labelled, randomized controlled study, 148 patients underwent successful coronary angioplasty. Ninetyeightpatients were treated with 46-52 mmoll18-20 h intravenousmagnesiumsulphate (groups lvn and lvf2), and 49 of them continued with oral supplements of magnesium hydroxide 600 mg. day 1 (group 1\.12)-The other 50 patients served as controls (group C). Coronary angiography \Vas peifonned before, immediately after and at 6 months follow-up or earlier if clinically indicated Clinical, laboratory, ergometric and radionuclide evaluations \vere also carried out.

Efficacy of folic acid therapy for prevention of in-stent restenosis: a randomized clinical trial.

BACKGROUND It is known that there is an association between elevated total plasma homocysteine level and restenosis after percutaneous coronary angioplasty. OBJECTIVE To evaluate the effect of lowering plasma homocysteine levels on the rate of restenosis after stent-percutaneous coronary angioplasty. METHODS Folic acid (1 mg) or placebo was administered to 200 patients (mean +/- SD age of 5...

A Clinical Trial Comparing Primary Stenting of the Infarct-Related Artery With Optimal Primary Angioplasty for Acute Myocardial Infarction

Objectives. This study sought to compare stenting of the primary infarct-related artery (IRA) with optimal primary percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA) with respect to clinical and angiographic outcomes of patients with an acute myocardial infarction. Background. Early and late restenosis or reocclusion of the IRA after successful primary PTCA significantly contributes to incre...

Randomised trial of elective stenting after successful percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty of occluded coronary arteries.

BACKGROUND The value of angioplasty in occluded coronary arteries is limited by a restenosis/reocclusion rate of 50-70%. In patients with subtotal occlusion, stent implantation has been shown to reduce clinical and angiographic restenosis. Retrospective observational studies have suggested that stenting could reduce restenosis in total occlusions. The value of sustained coronary patency on glob...

A controlled trial of corticosteroids to prevent restenosis after coronary angioplasty. M-HEART Group.

A multicenter, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial was conducted to determine if corticosteroids influence the development of restenosis after successful percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA). Either placebo or 1.0 g methylprednisolone (steroid) was infused intravenously 2-24 hours before planned PTCA in 915 patients. The PTCA patient success rate was 87% (mean) in the eight ...

Serum lipids and restenosis after successful percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty. Ichilov Magnesium Study Group.

The effects of plasma lipids on the clinical and angiographic parameters of 134 patients, in whom coronary angioplasty was performed in 157 vessels, were prospectively examined. During a 6-month follow-up, restenosis was detected angiographically in 39 patients (29%; 45 vessels). None of the clinical, biochemical, or angiographic variables examined was predictive of stenosis and the tendency of...
